Inventor

Definition:
One who contributes to the conception of an invention. The patent law of the United States of America requires that the applicant in a patent application must be the inventor.

Joint Work

Definition:
This is a work prepared by two or more authors with the intention that their contributions be merged into inseparable or interdependent parts of a unitary whole. (See 17 USC § 101. Definitions.15) The authors of a joint work are co-owners of copyright in the work. (See 17 USC § 201(a).16)

Copyright owner

Definition:
The copyright owner is not necessarily the author or creator of the work. While in most cases, the creator/author is automatically the one with all exclusive rights to his/her work, the author can give up all rights and transfer the piece to another perso
